The goal was to listen to diverse perspectives — from young people, families, practitioners, and managers — in order to better understand their experiences and expectations, and to offer recommendations for establishing standards in mental health services.

The discussions highlighted key concerns: the need to recognize lived trauma, ensure stable relationships, maintain continuity of care, and provide adequate support and training for those who work with youth on a daily basis. At the same time, systemic and organizational constraints served as a reminder of the complexity of current service structures.

These findings open up avenues for rethinking mental health service delivery within youth protection, with a focus on building a more relational, inclusive, and coherent approach. Three main recommendations emerged: establishing relational and ethical standards, strengthening organizational standards, and clarifying clinical standards. We share these results as an invitation to continue the conversation and to collectively enhance the quality of services offered to young people.

You can find more details by clicking on the newsletter below!

Our research on mental health and youth protection is coming to an end: young people are asking for services that are humane, stable, and attentive, while practitioners are calling for greater support.
