The vernissage of the photo exhibition <\/span><\/span>Finding light in the Dark: Recovery through the Lens of Young People<\/span><\/span>, held on Thursday, May 29 at the <\/span><\/span>BAnQ<\/span><\/span><\/a>, was a resounding success!<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Over sixty researchers and professionals working with adolescents and young adults came together to view the powerful photographic works created by the youth participants and to hear their moving testimonies\u2014full of vulnerability, authenticity, and wisdom.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Whether from frontline services, second-line care, or community-based mental health organizations, everyone in attendance was deeply moved by the artists\u2019 journeys of resilience, resistance, and creative expression.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The evening was infused with openness, deep listening, empathy, compassion, and moments of sadness, joy, and solidarity.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\ud83d\ude4f<\/span> A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who came to experience these striking images, read the personal reflections, and hear firsthand the stories of young people who are living\u2014or have lived\u2014through mental health challenges. Their stories teach us so much about what recovery means for them, and we are incredibly grateful for their generosity in sharing them.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The event was also rich in interaction: one youth participant gave a moving speech sharing some early findings from the research project connected to the exhibition. Guests were also invited to respond directly to the works by leaving their own thoughts and reactions on post-it notes\u2014adding their voices to those of the young artists.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
